2020 Roc Day Tampa Bay

Join the spinners of Pinellas Weavers Guild to celebrate Roc Day as part of your New Year’s celebrations.  The annual event is held at the McMullen House (also known as the Fiber Arts House). Guild members demonstrate fiber crafts including weaving and spinning, answer questions about fiber crafts, and share stories.

Plan to do mini-classes and demonstrations, tell funny holiday stories, recruit potential new spinners and weavers, and generally have a fun time. There will also be vendors selling fiber and spinning equipment, and a fiber exhibit by our members.

Roc Day, also known as St. Distaff’s Day, is the traditional time for women to put away their holiday baking pans and get back to fiber. The name comes from the distaff used in spinning linen, also called a roc, which was the medieval symbol of women’s work.
